Ways to Celebrate Your Stag Do This Year

Men who are about to get married tend to look forward to their stag do especially when they have been to really fun stag dos in the past. Now, if you will be having your stag do soon, here are some ways to celebrate your last night of freedom this 2013.

If there’s one thing that a stag do should be… it is that it should be memorable. In order for that stag do to be memorable, you just really have to know what the groom-to-be wants or enjoys. That’s also the reason why the best man is usually the one in charge of planning for it.

Stag Night vs. Stag Weekend

Nowadays, stag weekends are more popular than stag nights. Humble stag nights of days gone by are now replaced with foreign holiday mini vacations. For a lot of men, a weekend in an international destination is much better than just pub crawling or having a night on the town.

Of course, each option will also have its pros and cons. Stag weekends tend to be more expensive and going to an international location adds to the expense as well. Still, for a lot of men, a stag weekend is a lot better as it gives them more time enjoying a number of activities with their best mates.

Also, not everyone can really get time off and spend an entire weekend with you. As opposed to celebrating your stag night in town, only some of your friends might be able to join you for your stag weekend.

Daytime Stag Do Activities

Those that will be spending a stag weekend in an international location will require certain daytime activities to enjoy. Though different men enjoy different things, there are certain daytime stag do activities that appeal to a lot of men.

The most popular daytime activities are 4×4 off-road driving, buggy racing, quading, clay shooting, go karting, and paintballing. Just choose one or two of those to enjoy during the day to make sure that not a minute goes to waste.

Nighttime Stag Do Activities

At night, stags just have to choose the sort of entertainment that they want to have. Most stags choose to go to clubs with exotic dancers. Those that do not really want that can enjoy another activity. One other popular nighttime activity would be pub crawling.

The person in charge of organizing any stag or hen party should make sure that the activities involved will be activities that the celebrant will love. Stag pranks might be fun for some, but others would rather do without them. Basically, you just have to know what the celebrant wants.

An Unexpected Accident Caused by a Popular Stag Do Activity

Accidents just happen and, at times, the best laid plans can still go awry. Though there are a lot of uneventful stag parties, there are still some accidents that just happen. Last May, there was such an incident. It is quite surprising that it took this long for justice to be served.

May last year, Ben Kirkey’s life was promising. He was about to graduate from Thompson Rivers University. A few weeks before graduation, he passed away after suffering from two different accidents.

What Happened Last May?

Kirkey first suffered a gunshot wound to his arm. He was shot by accident as a stray bullet hit his arm. Clay pigeon shooting or skeet shooting involves shotguns and clay disks. The clay disks are thrown in the air at different angles and varying speed.

The stag group were shooting clay disks that afternoon as a daytime stag do activity. Then, unintentionally, a stray bullet hit Kirkey’s arm. That shot wasn’t fatal, but he did have to go to a hospital to have it treated.

On his way to the hospital, Kirkey was in a car accident. He and his friend were ejected from the Dodge Ram truck and rolled into a ditch. Both of them were seriously injured. At that point, Kirkey’s injuries were already too severe. Though he did make it to the hospital, due to the nature of his injuries, they removed his life support, and then he passed away.

Other Unexpected Accidents

In another stag do, the group was already aboard a plane when it started to malfunction. Luckily, the plane did not take off just yet and the group walked out of the incident unscathed.

Accidents like these can always happen and no one really knows why they happen, but they just do. To think the stag group involved in those accidents were not even engaged in extreme sports. The same accidents can also happen during hen parties and no one can really prevent such things from happening.

It helps to be prepared for whatever happens. Make sure cellular phones are at hand and that you have the number of a doctor or hospital in the area.

Popular and Ordinary Stag Activities

Clay shooting is among the most popular stag day activities. Other popular stag activities include quading, buggy wacing, go karting, and paintballing. Each of those activities will always include the necessary safety gear provided by the activity centers. Even so, participants should be aware of the things that can go wrong and somehow know what to do in case such things happen.

Stag parties can be a lot of fun with those activities. Armed with information and some caution, all stags still get to enjoy their last moments of freedom no matter where they choose to spend it.

A Stag That Played with Fire on His Stag Party

Drunk people do crazy things. Being drunk is never an excuse for doing certain things. Unfortunately, for a 28 year old groom-to-be, what he did during his stag party might prevent him from attending his own wedding.

The man spent his evening at the Pig and Whistle Pub to celebrate his stag night last January 2, 2013. His stag night did turn into a night he will never forget as he faced arson charges at the Queenstown District Court a couple of days ago.

What Happened?

Initially, the man and his companions were inside the pub to celebrate his last night of freedom by getting drunk. As part of his stag do, he was asked to change into a costume.

The man went into the toilet cubicle to change into the costume. However, instead of changing into it, he set the costume on fire and threw it to the patrons. Before he left the cubicle, he also set fire to a toilet roll, left the roll in the cubicle, and locked the door behind him.

The Queenstown fire department was fast to respond, but they weren’t really needed. The fire was out before they even got to the scene. Still, the damage has been done and the pub was smoke damaged.

The Court’s Verdict

The man’s lawyer said that the whole thing was a foolish prank. The man was remanded on bail up to the 28th of January. He also has to do without alcohol until that time. He also won’t be allowed to go to licensed premises that sell alcohol.

Be that as it may, the man was at least allowed to attend a wedding this Friday. It was not clear if it was to be his own wedding though.

Stag Pranks and Silly Pranks

Though this incident was nothing more than a foolish prank, one can say that it could’ve been worse. If the fire was not stopped earlier, it could have done more damage. Pubs are full of alcoholic beverages and those are flammable. Other people could have been injured too.

At times, stag pranks can be just as bad. There have been incidences that also involved the police. An example would be when a woman and her daughter witnessed a kidnapping incident that they reported to the police. Little did they know that the kidnapping part was just part of a stag prank played on their neighbor.

Moral of the story: try to behave accordingly even when drunk. As an added note, hens celebrating their hen do can be just as bad. Alcohol may affect one’s thinking, but that is never a valid excuse for one’s actions.
