Stag Groups in Riga Should Start to Behave

Stag groups are known to be more susceptible to violence and crazy behavior compared to their female counterparts. That is why Edinburgh’s Grassmarket district, Dublin, and even Kilkenny discourage such parties in their area. Their local government certainly means well as they’d rather have a more family-friendly tourist industry. What’s more, their local residents deserve some peace and quiet during their weekends as well.

Why can’t a group of men be content with just playing golf and laying off the booze for that stag do? Well, that is probably because of more recent trends and the influence of Hollywood movies. Most stag groups are intent on just having a good time. Folks can say that alcohol is the main culprit. However, alcohol does not really have a mind of its own.

Alcohol Induced Antics

Take a recent unfortunate incident that involved a liter of pure alcohol. They asked the groom-to-be to sit on a dentist’s chair in a Benidorm bar. That dentist’s chair was made very popular by football players Teddy Sheringham and Paul Gascoigne when they consumed alcohol in a similar manner in Hong Kong in 1996.

As he sat, they poured a liter of vodka down his throat. How did that go? Well, it certainly didn’t end well Paul Tobutt passed away from alcohol poisoning. His bride-to-be and family are now mourning.

That’s the worst case scenario. For a good number of stag groups, a night of drunkenness also involves trashing monuments, urinating in the streets, and picking up fights.

Riga’s stag party police decided that they have had enough of that behavior. Now, anyone that does such things can end up in prison for a few hours.

The Need for Moderation

Though alcohol will be part of most stag parties, that does not mean that revelers should go beyond what they could actually handle. In Paul’s case, he literally had too much of it. For other cases, no one appreciates their place being completely trashed.

So, for those that plan to have that stag party in Riga… better behave! The city’s stag party police really isn’t happy with most Brits’ behavior in their city.

A Stag That Played with Fire on His Stag Party

Drunk people do crazy things. Being drunk is never an excuse for doing certain things. Unfortunately, for a 28 year old groom-to-be, what he did during his stag party might prevent him from attending his own wedding.

The man spent his evening at the Pig and Whistle Pub to celebrate his stag night last January 2, 2013. His stag night did turn into a night he will never forget as he faced arson charges at the Queenstown District Court a couple of days ago.

What Happened?

Initially, the man and his companions were inside the pub to celebrate his last night of freedom by getting drunk. As part of his stag do, he was asked to change into a costume.

The man went into the toilet cubicle to change into the costume. However, instead of changing into it, he set the costume on fire and threw it to the patrons. Before he left the cubicle, he also set fire to a toilet roll, left the roll in the cubicle, and locked the door behind him.

The Queenstown fire department was fast to respond, but they weren’t really needed. The fire was out before they even got to the scene. Still, the damage has been done and the pub was smoke damaged.

The Court’s Verdict

The man’s lawyer said that the whole thing was a foolish prank. The man was remanded on bail up to the 28^th of January. He also has to do without alcohol until that time. He also won’t be allowed to go to licensed premises that sell alcohol.

Be that as it may, the man was at least allowed to attend a wedding this Friday. It was not clear if it was to be his own wedding though.

Stag Pranks and Silly Pranks

Though this incident was nothing more than a foolish prank, one can say that it could’ve been worse. If the fire was not stopped earlier, it could have done more damage. Pubs are full of alcoholic beverages and those are flammable. Other people could have been injured too.

At times, stag pranks can be just as bad. There have been incidences that also involved the police. An example would be when a woman and her daughter witnessed a kidnapping incident that they reported to the police. Little did they know that the kidnapping part was just part of a stag prank played on their neighbor.

Moral of the story: try to behave accordingly even when drunk. As an added note, hens celebrating their hen do can be just as bad. Alcohol may affect one’s thinking, but that is never a valid excuse for one’s actions.

Stags Are Said to Be More Sensible Compared to Hens

Can this be true? Are stags really more sensible compared to hens when it comes to their stag night celebration? Hen nights do tend to be on the more extravagant side nowadays with days at the spa or hen weekends abroad, but some stags are also inclined to do such things.

According to a survey conducted, almost a third of British men fall into the “sensible” category. However, a lot of hens will probably agree as well that men are more sensible when it comes to financial preparations for their stag do.

What Else Does the Survey Show?

The survey showed that thirty three of the men included in the survey had pre-planned budgets. What’s more, they were able to stick to that budget. Only twenty percent of hens can say the same. It also goes to show that women are not the best when it comes to saving money for such an occasion.

Even so, more women tend to decline invitations to hen parties whenever they find it expensive. So, women do have finances in mind. They just aren’t that good with sticking to a particular budget. Also, women tend to go to such parties only when they are very close friends or relatives of the bride-to-be.

The cost of hen and stag parties nowadays are at an average of £150. It did get a lot higher than the past few years. As a matter of fact, the price for such parties increased by more than fifty percent in the past five years. It is rather funny that even the decline of the economy did not do much to affect the expenses for these parties.

Other Trends in the Stag Industry

In a way, a lot of men consider a man’s stag party to be sacred. So much so that they would prioritize spending more money for the stag night rather the wedding. The economic situation also proves that, no matter what their financial situation is, men will find a way to give their mate a proper send off.

Though a lot of men still appreciate traditional stag parties with booze, women, and crazy antics, more men are opting to go paintballing, go karting, or clay shooting with their closest friends and relatives. Of course, the type of celebration will really depend on what the stag wants for his last night of freedom.

Not so surprisingly, there are men that do not enjoy drinking that much. Another sort of party will be better for them. That’s fine since there are really other daytime and nighttime stag party activities to enjoy for stag nights or weekends.
